Q&A With Stuart Rowley

Stuart Rowley recently joined the Estimating / Contracts team at Bridgman IBC and we caught up with him for a quick Q&A.

Please tell us about your professional development journey / career to date.

I originally started off on the shop floor at Adcas, working in the spray booth, before progressing to various machines and eventually moving into sales/estimating.

What have been some of the most important lessons that you have learned throughout your career?

Not to stress the small stuff and don’t take the work home.

Do you have a professional success story that you’re proud of?

Switching from timber doors to steel railings was a big challenge. It did pay off when I won the company their biggest order to date.

What does your job at Bridgman entail?

Sales and Contract Management.

How have you found your first few weeks with the company?

It’s been good, and the team have made me feel really welcome.

What do you enjoy most about working here?

Being able to use the knowledge that I have gained over the years and put it into practice. The banter with the team is also fun.

How do you see yourself developing in your role?

I hope to be able to grow certain accounts by being the main contact for some growing customers.

What techniques or tools help you to stay organised and productive?

I use a ‘to do list’ to help stay organised and try and keep a robust filing system.

Do you have any strategies for dealing with stress at work?

I’ve never really been a person that gets particularly stressed at work. I just try and deal with the job in hand, one job at a time.

What are your hobbies and interests?

Bouldering, body building and reading.

Do you have an interesting fact about yourself or a secret talent that you can share with us?

I was the North East leading bartender in 2005/06 and have an extensive cocktail knowledge.

What is the one thing you can’t live without?

A challenge or a personal goal.

What’s your favourite type of food or cuisine?

I can cook a pretty good chilli.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?

Back to Thailand. It was cheap and such a beautiful, relaxing place.
