The proposals for the major redevelopment at the eastern end of The Boulevard in Crawley saw the current Town Hall demolished and replaced with:
• Up to 273 flats (of which 109 will be affordable)
• A nine-storey building containing a new Town Hall and grade A commercial offices above
• A new public square
• Public realm improvements
• Ground floor commercial space for a restaurant / café
• District energy centre
In 2021, Bridgman IBC where appointed by supply chain partner WJL Contracts to undertake the supply only of the internal doorset package for the new nine story town hall and commercial offices being built by another supply chain partner in Kier Construction. This was a challenging project from the start with a very bespoke specification requirement including the laminate from Shinnoki which required the glazing beads, lipping and framing to be stained to match, the Shinnoki finish is a key feature of the building in contrast to the oak panelling completed by WJL Contracts. Following sample approval, it was agreed that Ash timber would be used as a based and then we’d stain the ash. French Polishers Terry Waters, based out Coventry, stepped in to assist with the staining element of the project. Other specifications included rift cut oak veneered doorsets to match in with the striking bespoke wall panelling and also some factory spray painted doors, including the lift lobby doors on each floor which were on the large side being over 2.7m high and 1.2m wide!!
Supply of the doorsets and screens took place from December 2021 until the summer of 2022.
This building provides a large, state-of-the-art congregation, performance and service space for 600 people with world-class audio-visual facilities as well as several flexible and adaptable function rooms and community spaces.
Radial in plan, the building has a steel and glulam structure, clad in brick and topped with a striking sedum roof.
For the unique project, Bridgman was tasked with providing all pre-hung doorsets and screens, we worked closely with Farrans Construction and BCR Architects. Aesthetically pleasing laminate doors which are classed as severe duty were provided for durability purposes.

The project comprises of a new primary, high school and leisure centre co-located within one multi-purpose building. The campus consists of a 52-place nursery, 420- pupil primary and a1600-pupil Secondary.
The leisure centre managed by NCC’s leisure partner, Active Northumberland includes a six-lane 25 metre pool, a trainer pool, aqua play, softplay, Clip‘N’Climb café, sports bar, 100 station gym, spinning studio, dance studios and luxury spa facilities. The indoor ‘community street’ will also be home to the Ponteland Public Library
A part of a nationwide supply chain agreement which sees Bridgman supply doorsets to Kier, Bridgman provided certified pre-hung doorsets in challenging lead-in periods.

This stunning development has sustainably combined traditional and modern construction to create a fitting new home for the University of Sheffield Faculty of Engineering.
The University of Sheffield is a Russell Group university and global leader for engineering research, with a £120m per annum income. The project vision was to bring the growing faculty departments together in a dynamic social and collaboration space and deliver a more sustainable campus.
This was accomplished by fully refurbishing the Grade II listed Sir Frederick Mappin Building and 1885 Central Wing and connecting them with a dramatic glass roof, enclosing a social space and two contemporary glazed accommodation blocks. The undulating atrium glass roof celebrates engineering excellence, which has been at the heart of Sheffield’s development since the industrial revolution and this continues through the global reputation of the University.
Bridgman provided several bespoke white oak doorsets with softwood/hardwood primed frames with factory fitted ironmongery to reduce the joinery fitting time and cost on-site.

Harry Watts Academy opened in September 2020 at the former Harraton Primary School in Washington. This temporary provision has been utilised while work was being completed on the new build at Hylton Redhouse, Sunderland.
Bridgman worked with Kier to supply around 145 doorsets and screens for the project – including durable laminate doors and paint grade frames and certified fanlights.

An £11.8 four-storey hotel in Bridgwater has now been completed.
The Ibis Red Hotel, built by Midas Construction, offers 144-bedrooms and is now set to welcome visitors and business travellers to Bridgwater.
It is located at Woodlands Court Business Park which makes it an accessible location for those working at Hinkley Point C or coming off of the M5.
It is designed to bring an increasing number of visitors to the area, once Covid-19 restrictions allow, but also help those travelling to Somerset for work purposes.

Located at Bridgwater, on Junction 24 on the M5 motorway, the new hotel, built on behalf of Zeal Hotels, is one of the largest in the area with 138 bedrooms, a bar and restaurant, a lounge area, meeting rooms and parking for more than 60 vehicles.
Now welcoming customers, the Holiday Inn Express will help to provide accommodation to workers and visitors to Hinkley Point C power station, the town and the surrounding areas.
The hotel was built to Holiday Inn Express Group’s Generation 4 specifications and the Midas team used innovative construction techniques and a highly efficient form of offsite and modular construction to deliver a high-quality finish in a considerably shorter build time.

A new 2-storey 2,520sqm school was delivered as part of the PSBP2 Mid-Value North East & Yorkshire batch.
The school is a steel-framed rectangular building (approx. 17m x 72m) housing two classrooms for each year group, staff facilities, small group rooms, library space and a double-height assembly hall space. It also provides pupils with a brand-new sports hall, an additional studio with a sprung dance floor and a food, science and Design & Technology room with state-of-the-art technologies.
The existing school was demolished following the construction of the proposed scheme and landscaped to provide new facilities and play areas for the pupils. The existing school remained in operation during the construction of the new structure.
Bridgman worked closely with the main contractors and nominated an ironmongery company to supply white oak doors with painted softwood/hardwood frames with factory fitted ironmongery.

The Mount Oswald project includes a new home for the John Snow and 17th Colleges, together with new student residential accommodation
providing 1,000 self-catering bed spaces with a mixture of en-suite and shared bathroom accommodation.
Each college includes a central heart building providing a JCR/bar area and office space.
The development consists of 5 blocks, all four storeys high and includes all the structural elements from ground beams to finished elevations.
The superstructure for all 5 blocks comprises precast concrete panels all of which are made up of DfMA components that were prefabricated off-site for PCE. The overall development also includes a Hub building with an events hall, music rooms, performance practice room, yoga/dance studio and a faithroom.
The variety of structural solutions are each tailored to the architectural layouts of the buildings they make up.
Bridgman was tasked with providing several thousand certified pre-hung doorsets in a challenging time periods.

The Ageas Bowl, formally the Rose Bowl, is the iconic home of Hampshire Cricket and also Hampshire County Cricket Club, which have played there since 2001. To host Test cricket, the ground has undergone major redevelopment starting in 2008, which included the constriction of the 175-room Hilton four-star hotel with panoramic window views over the northern end of the ground.
Bridgman supplied over 600 doorsets in American Walnut FSC for the New Hotel and Functions rooms. As part of the project, pre-hung doorsets were provided to the bedrooms, bathrooms, suites, corridors and conference facilities areas.

MTX, the modular builder has provided a fast track 28 bed decant ward. They worked directly for The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, MTX will be delivered a single storey 900m² solutions to house; 6no 4 bed wards, 4 HDU single bedrooms, nurse base, offices, interview room and clinical stores.
The new facility is located adjacent to the two-storey Nightingale centre that houses the endoscopy department and the Acute Medical Unit. MTX will provide a direct link between the two buildings and the rest of the site.
Bridgman doors are classed as a severe duty which makes it the ideal choice for the challenging Hospital environment. The flax door cores provide a secure and solid fixing for the critical items of ironmongery.

The BREEAM “Excellent” Mitford unit for Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust provides 24- hour inpatient support and treatment for up to 15 adults with severely complex autistic spectrum disorders. Built by Kier under ProCure21+, the accommodation comprises eight single-person and two and three-person shared flats within four fingers of accommodation linked at their southern end by a band of shared spaces interspersed with staff facilities. Given there was no precedent in the UK for this type of building, the project team had to develop design standards harnessing knowledge gained from visits to other residential buildings for autism patients, information from organisations such as the Autistic Society, and first-hand knowledge from the trust’s clinicians. The unit’s design has created a calm and protective setting that helps ensure the comfort and privacy of its residents while responding sensitively to the existing established features of the wider hospital site

Bridgman provided several specialist doorsets which included anti-barricade, seclusion rooms, ensuite doors and non-clinical doorsets. The factory fitted stainless steel anti-ligature ironmongery completed the laminate and PVC doors.

Design of a new high quality, landmark office building in central Ipswich, providing the new Headquarters for Birketts Solicitors. As the building is within an area of potential flooding, the lowest floors had to be designed to sit at a higher level. This involved the careful design and integration of external ramps, steps and landscaping to allow full access and egress without forgoing an attractive building frontage. As with all our office designs, we have created an efficient internal layout that balances flexibility with the use of robust materials and detailing. We also liaised with the tenant to integrate the internal alterations they required for their fit-out. The building has been built to BREEAM Very good.
The project was completed on time ready for the grand opening by HRH Prince Edward on 11th May 2018.
Bridgman supplied striking American White Oak pre-hung and certified doorsets to the main contractor. Durability was a key requirement and Bridgman’s provided with the unique flax severe-duty door core which has an excellent ironmongery provision.
