Case Study: Bridgman IBC Collaboration on Fire Entrance Door Installation at Bramley Court, Hartlepool

Client: Thirteen & Esh Group
Project: Refurbishment of Assisted Living Scheme at Bramley Court
Location: Hartlepool, UK
Completion: 2025

Overview
Bridgman IBC is proud to have played a key role in the refurbishment of Bramley Court, an assisted living scheme designed to support residents aged 55+ who require assistance to live independently. The £3.5 million refurbishment project, which aimed to enhance the living conditions for residents and improve the safety and aesthetic appeal of the building, saw significant upgrades to both private flats and communal areas. Bridgman IBC was entrusted with the installation of fire entrance doors throughout the scheme, collaborating closely with Thirteen and Esh Group to ensure the highest safety standards and aesthetic quality.

The Challenge
Bramley Court required a comprehensive door upgrade across the entire facility to enhance safety and aesthetics for its residents. The primary challenge was to deliver high-quality fire-resistant doors that met the strict fire safety regulations, particularly in communal areas, while still contributing to the visual appeal of the property. The installation needed to be completed across 46 flats and three floors of communal areas without compromising the residents’ safety or comfort.

Bridgman IBC’s Contribution
Bridgman IBC supplied over 120 certified doorsets and screens, along with the necessary architrave, as part of the overall refurbishment. The flat entrance door sets were designed with the highest levels of fire safety in mind, meeting PAS24 security standards to ensure both fire resistance and safety for the building’s occupants.

For the individual flat entrances, the doors were finished in a striking Polyrey laminate – Chene D’Australie – C185, creating a modern yet professional appearance while maintaining the required fire resistance. Each flat entrance door was equipped with PAS24-certified ironmongery, including a multi-point locking system, eye viewers for added security, and a TS008 Letter Plate.

The communal doors, which spanned three floors, were finished in a Polyrey laminate – Birnham Oak B208, complementing the interior design of the building while providing the same levels of safety and security.

Key Features and Solutions:
• Certified Doorsets & Screens: Over 120 certified doorsets/screens with associated architrave to ensure safety and security across the facility.
• Laminate Finishes: Polyrey laminate finishes – Chene D’Australie – C185 for flat entrances and Birnham Oak B208 for communal doors, providing both aesthetic appeal and practicality.
• High-Security Ironmongery: Each flat entrance door included multi-point locking systems, eye viewers, and TS008 Letter Plates, contributing to overall safety and convenience for residents.
• Fire Safety Standards: All doorsets were designed and manufactured to meet strict fire safety regulations, ensuring the protection of residents and staff in case of an emergency.

Stewart Hind, Commercial Director of Bridgman IBC, commented on the project: “We contributed to the project by supplying over 120 certified doorsets/screens and associated architrave to Esh Construction, who have carried out a superb job upgrading the facilities. I’m sure the residents and staff of Bramley Court will be rightly proud of the upgraded facilities.”

The installation of these high-quality fire-resistant doors has not only improved the safety and security of the facility but also enhanced the overall aesthetic of the property, creating a more welcoming environment for the residents.
